Maison&Objet : A round up

Maison&Objet : A round up

Twice yearly, design professionals eagerly travel to Paris to attend Maison&Objet - one of Europe's biggest trade fairs dedicated to the art of living.

Our team has just returned and is filled with inspiration after seeing new ideas and products focused on lifestyle, decoration and design.

Below is a selection of brands that in our opinion were a cut above the rest.

1. Imperfetto lab

Imperfetto lab is an Italian design brand that create "imperfect", unique and exclusive pieces in their workshop, based just out of San Marino.

On display were a selection of standout examples of beautiful craftsmanship and an innovative use of materials.

Here is a glimpse into our favourite pieces on their stand:

2. Petite Friture

We have been following  Petite Friture  for a while now and their stand was no disappointment. The use of pink, black, white and metal on their stand was beautiful.  They communicate through their work with humour and style - the resulting effect being vibrant and edgy.

3. Rina Menardi

Taking inspiration from nature, Italian designer Rina Menardi produces unique handmade  pieces with clean and organic lines. The pieces showed her obvious skill and signature which she's been honing for over 35 years.

Confident and bold in her use of colour, the red collection was unusual and undeniably powerful. Whilst not an easy collection to use in the home, the pieces could serve as a striking centerpiece.

4. DANTE Goods and Bads

DANTE Goods  & Bads is a collective creating objects, products and editions with unique concepts that draw on "emotions, habits, memories, tastes, aversions, the good, the bad, never the ugly."

One of our favourite pieces was the 'Minima Moralia' room divider, which was a successful mix of modern design thrown in with a retro feel. We also loved the 'Come As You Are' bar cart, which was beautiful in its modest and minimalist construction.

The next show we're heading to is the London Design Festival at the end of September; stay tuned for a round up in the next few weeks, where we'll be sharing our top picks and highlights from the show.
